In Japan, women give chocolates to men on Valentine’s Day on February 14th. As many Japanese know, White Day is the day that men give gifts to women in return for Valentine’s Day. White Day originated in Japan.
White Day has a history and has had various names until now. “Return Valentine”, “Marshmallow Day”, “Cookie Day”, “Flower Day”, etc. However, we usually use “White day”.
There are various theories why it was named White Day. First, the theory that it was named White Day because white color has an image of purity. Second, because of Marshmallow day which I introduced earlier. There is a theory that when Marshmallow Day was not a hit, it was called “White Day” because marshmallows have white color.
There are various reasons why White day became March 14th. There is a theory that March is a convenient month for the confectionery industry and the distribution industry which are busy on Valentine’s Day(February 14th).
White Day was born in Japan, but there are other days such as White Day in South Korea and China.
It’s almost white day, isn’t it? I think there are more shops selling sweets wherever you go. Would you like to buy any presents for your partner?
